Taste T.O. Facebook Page

Yeah, we know that Facebook is sooooo last year, and that all the cool kids are Twittering now. But that hasn’t stopped us from setting up a new Taste T.O. Facebook Page (replacing our old and probably soon-to-disappear Taste T.O. Facebook Group).

So if you haven’t given up on the ol’ FB yet, please check it out and become a “fan”. We might have more fans than BlogTO, but we’ve got a lot less than Torontoist, so our egos could use the boost. KTHXBYE!

Happy New Year!

Posted by Sheryl Kirby in administrative on January 1, 2008 at 12:01 am

newyear.jpgFirst, a toast to a really fabulous 2007, with thanks to everyone who helped and supported TasteTO during our first year of publication. We are overwhelmed by the fantastic reaction our site has had from Toronto’s foodie community and have great plans for the new year.

Huge, huge thanks with much gratitude to all of our writers, past and present, who worked so hard for us with little compensation. Your many voices and perspectives have ensured that TasteTO truly represents the array of culinary delights in our wonderful city. We are truly honoured to have all of you on our team.

Thanks as well to all of the chefs, restaurants, shops, farmers, market organizers, brewers and winemakers, food advocates, PR companies and gossip columnists who allowed us to pick their brains, take their photos, raid their space, scarf their fois gras, sip their wines, and rearrange their display cases to get the perfect photo. Thanks to the many friends who sat by in amusement as we sampled and photographed their food before they were allowed to eat it.

And finally, thanks to you, our readers. We have worked hard this year to bring you some of the best food writing this city has to offer, and watching our hits increase every month as more and more people find the site has been thrilling.

We have great stuff planned for 2008 with more new columns and contests, merchandise bearing our super-cool logo designed by graphic artist Will Skol, as well as some tastings and other events.

Sincere wishes for a joyful, prosperous and truly beautiful 2008 to everyone!

Sheryl & Greg

Our New Look

Posted by Greg Clow in administrative on May 21, 2007 at 11:47 pm

tasteto_logo.jpgIf you’re a regular visitor to Taste T.O., you’ve undoubtedly noticed that things look very different all of a sudden. We’ve got a new logo and a new colour scheme, both of them a bit brighter than the black/grey/white look we were using before.

We’re especially excited about our new logo, which has been created for us by local graphic designer Will Skol. He does fantastic work, and we were very happy to have him put something together for us.

Now that we have a snazzy logo, we’re gonna start putting it on things, so watch for some Taste T.O. merchandise to be available for ordering soon. We’ll also be doing a bit more tweaking of the site, although most of the changes will be small or behind-the-scenes, so you probably won’t notice much.

In the meantime, we hope you like the changes, and if you notice anything that doesn’t seem to be working properly, please let us know.

Everything’s Gone Green - Including Us!

dhgreen.jpgWe somehow missed this when it was first posted/announced a couple of weeks ago, but better late than never:

Our web-hosting company, Dreamhost, has gone carbon-neutral. Which means that TasteTO.com has gone green without us even realising it. Cool!

This, in addition to the fact that they’re employee-owned and just seem like a fun bunch of folks to hang out with, make us very happy to give them our business. If you happen to be looking for a web hosting option, we highly recommend that you check them out.

Tasting T.O. With… You?

Posted by Greg Clow in administrative, tasting t.o. on April 2, 2007 at 12:18 am

Are you a musician, actor, artist, activist, writer, blogger, chef, or some other sort of person of notoriety who lives in Toronto and likes food?

If so, we’re looking for people like you to feature in a new weekly column called Tasting T.O., where we will be profiling local personalities and asking them a few questions about where and what they like to eat in our city. We’d especially like to focus on folks with something new or upcoming to promote, so if you’ve got a gig/release/project coming up that you’d like to hype, you’re a perfect candidate.

We’ll be launching the feature in the next couple of weeks, so if you or someone you know would like to be profiled, please get in touch.
