There is no agenda, there will be no speeches, and no fundraising efforts will take place. iYellow Wine School: Varietal Wines 101

The first set of iYellow Wine School courses, running on Saturday afternoons in September & October, will focus on the differences between many of the popular global grape varietals. In each class Taylor Thompson, one of Toronto's top sommeliers, will offer you an educational and interactive tasting experience of up to five thoughtfully chosen, diverse wines from around the globe to showcase each varietal’s unique contribution to the wine world.

The celebrate Oktoberfest, The Monk's Table will be holding a blind taste test of three German lagers and three German wheat beers. Tasters will vote on their favourites, and the winners will be on tap for the next year. There will also be Oktoberfest-themed food specials. (Final day.)
Vintages Finest & Rarest Wines Auction

The LCBO and Waddington's Auctioneers will be presenting more than 1,700 lots of rare wines valued at $1.8-2 million at this year’s Vintages Finest and Rarest Wines Auction. Among the many offerings of rare wine to be presented at the auction is the 2001 Romanée-Conti, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, one of the world's great Grand Cru red Burgundies, valued at more than $4,000 per 750 mL bottle. California collectors will also find Sine Qua Non, the much sought-after wine from noted cult California producer Manfred Krankl, in quantities never before seen in Ontario. These wines are valued between $400-$1,000 per 750 mL bottle. There are also large quantities of classified Bordeaux and Grand Cru red Burgundies to appeal to the most discerning collectors. Dine Out For Hunger

Between September 21st and October 18th, thousands of Ontarians will Dine Out for Hunger at hundreds of participating restaurants during a province-wide event to benefit 350,000 people (including 140,000 children) forced to turn to food banks monthly in Ontario. Restaurants will be offering special menus, holding promotions and hosting special events to raise money for local food banks. (Continues to October 18th.)
