The Bar and Bench
Campbell House Museum, 160 Queen Street West
5:00 PM to 1:00 AM
various ticket prices - see website for details
In 1612 just outside of London, England the first English "Olimpicks" were under way, initiated by Robert Dover, a legal advocate that believed greatly in a sense of community, and felt that his profession had an obligation to those less fortunate. The Monk's Table is proud to sponsor for the first time in Canada a version of the Dover Olimpicks that will be named The Bar and Bench in honor of Robert Dover's profession and his promotion of an event that has been cited as a precursor to the Olympics as we know them today. Traditional, unique, and hard to find English ales will be available, some imported for the first time in Canada for this event, along with a wide range of high-end wines and single malts, and gourmet fare provided by The Monk's Table. Olympic Athletes will be in attendance as well as performing demonstrations on the Campbell House lawns. Proceeds will benefit The Canadian Athletes Now Fund, a non-for-profit organization devoted solely to raising money and awareness for Canada's amateur athletes.
