Here's some food for thought for today...
- McDonald's wants a piece of the fancy coffee market. Apparently they plan to get it by hooking the sugar addicts first. And at prices comparable to the upscale chains, this is not your regular cup of Joe.
- The US gets to continue enjoying Roquefort cheese, Spanish ham and Italian mineral water - for this they give up a substantial amount of hormone-free beef, leaving the stuff with hormones for US citizens. Um... yay?
- Reagan counted ketchup as a vegetable, so ordering a burger without one must be un-American. Obama gets flack for ordering a burger with mustard. Seriously? Don't you people have lives?
- The human brain processes ideas about food and religion in the same area, and the same way. Which might be why vegans gets so riled up about animal welfare, and also why everyone else gets so defensive (vegetarians included) when the vegans make them feel guilty for eating animal products.
- Corporations have found Twitter and have started following the feeds of SOLE food activists and bloggers. Here's what happens when they have an #agchat (live discussion about agriculture on Twitter).
- We missed No Diet Day yesterday, but could have celebrated it with deep-fried Coke, a deep fried cheeseburger orĀ deep-fried cookie dough (sensing a theme here?).
