Here's all the good stuff from the papers today...
Toronto Star:
- Still with the coffee cups - City Hall creates yet another clusterfuck around the issue of recycling the separate parts of a disposable coffee cup. We recommend an awareness campaign similar to the notable "sleeve sneeze" program, demonstrating to Torontonians how to remove the lid from the cup and disposing of both properly. (Get the guy who did the ad with the Royal Doulton figurine and the storm drain from a few years back - we loved that ad!) But also, 350 million paper cups a year??? People, come on, get a travel mug already.
- Would you eat roasted chestnuts all year 'round? Susan Sampson provides locations so those who would can stalk Mr. Chestnut and his truck.
- Coconut, lime and ginger pie. **swoon**
- Spanish chicken livers... can I have more pie instead?
- Josh Rubin tries a Blacksheep Riggwelter and offers a dose of history to go with it.
- Will there be a tax on the cost of plastic bags once stores start charging for them?
Toronto Sun:
- Leafy greens are good anytime, not just when you need green food for St. Patrick's Day.
- Rita DeMontis has some trivia about Ireland and some recipes for Irish favourites.
- Elizabeth Baird has Irish soda bread and lots of foodie news.
Globe and Mail:
- David Lee recommends keeping kids busy during March break by putting them to work in the kitchen.
- I remember back in the 80s when we'd dab some Jack Daniel's behind our ears before heading off to Rock and Roll Heaven. Beppi Crosariol has an interesting piece on the iconic spirit and points out that some people even drink it.
- Tips on getting picky kids to eat their dinner - when threatening with the back of your hand doesn't work.
