Here's some food for thought for today...
- Maybe it's because I use the word more frequently than the average person, but I was intrigued to know why there is no N in restaurateur.
- Easter comes in cardboard this year - Nestle switches from plastic packaging to cardboard, preventing 700 tonnes of waste from ending up in landfills.
- Knowledge is power - two small towns in France have half the childhood obesity rate of the European average. How they did it? Teaching kids where their food comes from, how to shop, and how to cook, as well as creating initiatives that encouraged realistic activity.
- "Every time we sit down to eat, we can control how much we want to contribute to global warming, and by eating more plants and fewer animals, we can take a positive step in the right direction."
- Elitism and school lunch - Do kids need organic arugula? I've linked to Mark Bittman's post here, just because some of the comments are interesting. The one that calls Alice Waters "a food jihadist" made me giggle.
- And finally, if you had pancakes yesterday for Mardi Gras, compare your stack to the world's tallest.
