Here's some food for thought for today...
- NYC is set to switch to a visible restaurant rating system for sanitation and hygiene similar to systems used in Toronto or Los Angeles.
- Urban CSA-type gardens are more effective than community gardens where everyone does their own thing.
- Not an excuse to eat more French fries - colleges and universities work to convert used cooking oil to biofuel.
- The US FDA is using social networking site Twitter to provide recall information. In other news, TasteTO still refuses to set up a Twitter feed.
- People may be eating out less, but reservation system Open Table has filed for an Initial Public Offering (IPO) in order to obtain funds for an expansion.
- Do you have any Halifax squid? - trash was collected from US beaches and then packaged to look like fresh fish in an effort to show how litter is destroying ecosystems and what we eat.
- And finally, pot popcorn, the kind you make in a pot on the stove, not the kind you sprinkle with "herb".

"In other news, TasteTO still refuses to set up a Twitter feed."
That made me laugh because one of you recently mentioned that in a comment in my blog. You know you want to.
I actually just put that link re. the US FDA in a post that I'm preparing before I saw it here. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency might want to follow.
