Shirley Lum of A Taste of the World Tours leads a walking tour of Toronto’s original Chinatown, centred around Dundas and Bay, much of which was razed during the construction of New City Hall in the 1960s. The tour will trace where the seeds of Chinatown were planted 130 years ago in 1878 and uprooted several times before landing on Spadina Avenue. The walk will also include a visit to Yung Sing Pastry Shop, the oldest family-run bakery for old-fashioned Chinese treats. For the finale, Shirley will host a healthy sit-down Dim Sum luncheon where she will review chopstick and tea-pouring etiquettes while ordering dim sum items of varying textures, flavours and colours, complete with Chinese Horoscope book readings.

The Community Shared Agriculture Conference endeavours to generate support for small community-based farm operations. Workshops and presentations will focus on practical techniques, tools and resources specific to organics and CSA farming. Topics include production, marketing and financial aspects of running a CSA operation.
