This week at NOW, Steven Davey gets to the meat of the matter with a review of Black Hoof, a new charcuterie joint on Dundas West. Davey goes on to try the chacuterie plate at east end PicNic (Steven, I'm buying you a portable defibrillator for Christmas) but finds just about everything on the menu under-spiced and underwhelming. Graham Duncan tries some (not for everyone) Hendrick's gin with its touches of rose and cucumber.

Alan A. Vernon and Sean Kelly Keenan from Eye drop by Oddfellows and enjoy the communal dining experience. (Geographic note - Queen & Shaw is not "Parkdale", guys. Parkdale is west past the train bridge at Gladstone. Please stop encouraging hipsters to wander around my hood looking for restaurants that are 10 blocks away - we have enough trouble getting rid of the ones that are already here.)

At Metro, Billy Munnelly predicts the reinvention of chardonnay with less oak. There's a recipe for chocolate lasagna, as well as butternut squash muffins from Jamie Oliver, and Barb Holland offers up a recipe for lemon pork and roasted vegetables.
