Just a follow-up comment to say:

1. Found a couple of great deals through Craigslist, though I'm mostly interested in being able to see/feel/look through the cookbooks in person before buying.

2. The Trinity College Annual Book Sale last weekend netted many great finds of older and newer cookbooks and foodie books. It's over now for this year but they have it yearly; paying $5 admission to "get first pick" in my opinion is totally worth it. But it's a madhouse - plan accordingly. :)

3. I'll be at this weekend's Toronto Book Fair at St. Lawrence Market (http://www.heritageantiqueshows.com/Site/Toronto%20Bookfair%20-%20St%20Lawrence%20Market.html for more info) and hope to pick up some yummy finds there.

Hope this helps my fellow cookbook hunters!

Sheryl, thanks for covering this on Taste T.O.! I'm definitely looking at this with an eye towards collecting... particularly older, used cookbooks. I knew BMV didn't really have anything much that was older, but I didn't know about these smaller used stores - I'm definitely going to try them out!

I've also been putting together a list of flea markets to try and will comment back here with anything good I find.

Also excited about some of the suggestions you've been getting in the comments. I knew about BookCloseouts but didn't know about the silent auctions at CHO or the other book sites Melanie suggested.

Hi there...great ideas! Also you might want to try http://www.Boochmooch.com for used books, it's a great website where you can get free books. Also http://www.Listasaurus.com has a lot of used items (similar to craigslist and ebay, they have classifieds and auctions, even with video) and I've seen cookbooks there.

Hope this helps!

I've bought many cookbooks from bookcloseouts.com, an online store with a warehouse in St. Catharines. Shipping is fast and reasonable.

The Culinary Historians of Ontario also have a fundraiser: silent auctions of older cookbooks, usually twice a year, every September at their AGM (open to non-members) and in the Spring. Check www.culinaryhistorians.ca
