Rag Round-Up - Thursday, June 19th

Got Pride? Yep, Pride Week is upon us again, and the weeklies have stepped in to provide their readers with info on all the hot spots to check out while waving the rainbow flag. Let's start with a drink. Kim Bosch at Eye rounds up some of the most interesting cocktails at Church and Wellesley, and with names like the Bitch Slap, the Slippery Hole, the One Night Stand and the Cock Sucking Cowboy, the drinks could be chapter titles in a romance novel about Pride weekend. Alan A. Vernon also offers a round-up of Gaybourhood patios for those who prefer to watch rather than participate.

Over at NOW, Steven Davey's got his own Pride report, with a very complimentary review of Fuzion, where the former chef-to-Oprah has departed to have his menu updated by Chef Sam Girgis. Davey also breaks his own rule of re-reviewing a restaurant and returns, 7 years later, to Zelda's.

My last review of Zelda’s resulted in NOW’s being permanently banned from the premises. I’m told that the week my write-up appeared in the paper, a Steven Davey impersonator placed dead last in Zelda’s best ass contest.

He's scored himself another 7 years of bad luck with this most recent review, for the food doesn't seem to have improved, and Davey says so. Also at NOW, Graham Duncan sips some 1991 vintage Port. Nice.

Metro offers an osso bucco recipe from Anita Stewart's Canada, while Barb Holland has rhubarb information and a recipe for strawberry rhubarb bread pudding. Rick McGinnis visits Deep Blue Fish and Chips, and there's a piece from last week that previews last Saturday's One City One Table event, which, incidentally, was a rousing success.
