It's unanimous - everyone loves the Harbord Room with NOW's Steven Davey joining the chorus. Awarding the place four Ns, Davey enjoys the risotto, the lamb and the great desserts. Also at NOW, Graham Duncan likes using the word bland in reference to his review of Nirvana on College Street. In fact, the usage of the word "bland" is so associated with Duncan's reviews that a local restaurant he once panned has named a sandwich after him; "the Graham Blandwich". Might be time for a Thesaurus. Presumably not bland is the Broker's Gin Duncan reviews in his Drink Up column.
At Eye, I was really rooting for Corey Mintz to get his dim sum to go so I could refer to his review of Paradise Fine Chinese Dining as "paradise by the dashboard lights". Instead he stayed firmly planted in his seat and filled up on dumplings.
Everyone's excited about the opening of Le Pain Quotidien (our piece runs tomorrow) , and Metro is no exception with a Canadian Press wire piece about Belgium's best bread. Also at Metro, Billy Munnelly explains some basic wine terms to help his readers follow wine reviews, Oreos get fat with a new cake version (look at me, resisting to urge to make the obvious joke about how eating Oreos will make you...), and the foodie interview is comedian Joe Avati.
