The two restaurants at the Royal Ontario Museum - the high-end c5 Restaurant Lounge and the more casual Food Studio - may not seem to have a lot in common on the surface, but their respective chefs Ted Corrado (above left) and Caesar Guinto (above right) share a passion for filling their menus with as much locally sourced, seasonal and organic food as possible. Over the next few months, some of Toronto's other top chefs who follow similar philosophies will be joining the pair for a series of dinners and events as part of the Green Gastronomy series.
Starting this weekend and running one weekend each month through to July, the series will see a different guest chef teaming with Corrado in the c5 kitchen on Friday to create a four-course gourmet dinner using ingredients sourced from a regional farmer, and paired with the wines of an Ontario vintner.
On Sunday, the same guest will join Guinto in Food Studio to prepare family-friendly à la carte lunch menu items with optional wine pairings for the grown-ups. The lunches will also feature an educational element where attendees can learn how chefs, farmers and vintners can work together to support the local agricultural economy, reduce greenhouse emissions and create delicious unique food.
