I'm always amused when food bloggers, without the pre-arranged syncronicity of a meme or blogging event to guide them, all seem to come up with similar themes to their posts. This week, there's a real trend in the recipe posts to seasonal comfort food. I'm guessing this is, in part, due to our crappy weather and the prolonged desire to hide in the house and eat.
With maple syrup season in full swing, who can turn down any kind of maple-flavoured delight? The Candied Quince has a recipe for Maple Walnut Sticky Squares that look seriously awesome.
At Do You Know the Muffin Man? Eric continues the maple theme with Sweet Potato Cornbread Pudding with Maple Custard.
Pancakes also seem to be on the minds of Toronto food bloggers this week. Ivonne at Cream Puffs in Venice admits she's become obsessed with the things and has a recipe for Ricotta Pancakes. And while the photo is less than stellar, the recipe for Spiced Pumpkin Pancakes at What's On My Plate sounds really yummy.
In other recipes, Elizabeth at Blog From Our Kitchen makes Eggs Florentine, Kevin at Closet Cooking tries his hand at Kimchi, and Megan the Vegan rolls up some vegan Pizza Piggies in a Blanket.
In non-recipe posts, Tara at Seven Spoons has a really thoughtful post about her early food influences and how things have changed. And at Save Your Fork, I've got a recap of the Michael Pollan talk, along with some more of my usual "eat real food" ranting.
