Lunch Money Day – It’s In the Bag

sandwich.jpgTomorrow marks Second Harvest's 10th annual Lunch Money Day.

What the heck is Lunch Money Day? This annual promotion encourages Torontonians to take the money they'd normally spend eating lunch out, and donate it to Second Harvest. Participants are encourage to bring a brown bag lunch instead or to organize an event in their office or school to encourage others to participate.

Even folks who don't have a school or office to go to can make a donation by visiting the Lunch Money Day site or volunteering.

For every $5 donated, Second Harvest is able to provide enough fresh food for 10 meals. So pack a lunchpail, brown bag, thermos, tiffin or handkerchief tied to the end of a stick, and send your lunch money for the day to some folks who could use a good meal.

Come on down to the Calphalon Cooking Studio, SW corner of King and Spadina, between 12 and 2 pm tomorrow. Volunteers will be selling light lunches provided by the Calphalon kitchen, with all proceeds being donated to Lunch Money Day. Thanks, Calphalon!
