Restaurant staff across the city are heaving a collective sigh of relief today. Winterlicious, that 10-day marathon of prix fixe dishes and crap tips is finished until the torture begins again in July. From the customer's point of view, was there good food to be had? At Spotlight Toronto, the team of troopers worked their way through a list of places including Cafe Maroc, Lai Toh Heen, Mistura, Thuet and Bodega.
BlogTO hit some Winterlicious spots as well, with reviews of Autogrill and C5. Jerrold gives an overview of BeerBistro, Nicole checks out Sidecar, and Kari has a post about a call for volunteers for Lunch Money Day.
And unlike the rest of the Type A personalities hitting as many cheap Winterlicious restaurants as they can, Julie of Torontoist figures the best way to beat the February greys is to kick back and pretend she's on a beach with the Great Torontoist Margarita Challenge.
At Menumental, Eric Vellend enjoys some French cuisine at Tati Bistro, while over at Gremolata, he explores the wonderful world of the sichuan pepper. Also at Gremolata, Malcolm Jolley interviews Julie Van Rosendaal about her cookie book, Zoltan Szabo lists his 10 commandments of wine, and the Gremotraveller is still in Orlando.
David Lawrason of Toronto Life sips the first of Prince Edward County's sparkling wine, while James Chatto sips olive oil, cider and some very fine whisky.
