Blog-A-Log - Saturday, February 2nd

blog3.jpgThere's a bit of a kerfuffle about chickens in Britain. Chefs Jamie Oliver and Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall have done shows recently exposing the living conditions for factory raised hens. As expected there's been a bit of a backlash, and Gina Mallet, who keeps track of such things, has links on her blog to a couple of articles from UK papers; one by AA Gill, the other by Jan Moir. Having seen the shows myself, and since factory farming conditions were the main reason I went vegetarian back in 2001, I've got my own take on the issue at Save Your Fork.

We're smack in the middle of Winterlicious, and a couple of bloggers have been posting reviews. Rabbit Reporting enjoyed their meal at Tutti Matti, while Ian from We Eat Toronto headed to C5.

Someone who should consider eating out more often is Marusya from Recipes For Trouble, although she managed to make a passable lentil-kale-sausage soup with one hand, but ended up back in emerg from over-extending herself.

Meanwhile Dana McCauley has tips on freezing stuff, and over at Beer, Beats and Bites, Greg has a better suggestion for things to do with ice - drink some icewine!

Thanks for mentioning my freezing tips post! Next week I have lots of fun content planned: Saverac cocktails, a fluffy pancake recipe, ipod cooking and more.
