Blog-A-Log - Saturday, January 19th

blog6.jpgWow! It looks like almost every Toronto food blogger set themselves a resolution to post more in 2008. We had so many great posts to choose from this week, it was hard to narrow it down to just a few.

At Beer Beat and Bites, Greg enjoys a couple of lovely dark beers from Nova Scotia.

Brilynn of Jumbo Empanadas visits Kensington Market and has some great photos sure to make you hungry.

The rising cost of sustainable fish is just one topic that Gina Mallet blogs about this week.

And speaking of Gina Mallet, Rabbit Reporting disagrees with her review of 93 Harbord. Offering up their own review of this middle eastern restaurant, they find fault with a number of things that Mallet enjoyed.

Cathy at The Nutritionista discusses Michael Pollan's "12 Commandments For Serious Eaters", starting with "don't eat anything your grandmother wouldn't recognize as food." I don't know Michael Pollan's age, or what the target demographic for his writing is, but my Grandmother was the epitome of the 1950s housewife who joyously embraced the convenience food revolution. Yes, she made bread and pie from scratch, but she also kept her freezer stocked with frozen pizzas and fries. She also came from a generation that considered bread fried in bacon fat to be part of a typical breakfast, something that would horrify us today. I haven't read Pollan's book yet, but I hope the rest of it isn't this far off the mark.
