A true food lover can always find an excuse to eat. The Globe and Mail’s Massimo Capra is no exception as he writes about antipasto and other Italian snacks. His favourite? Mamma’s frittata. Also in the Globe Siri Agwell interviews author Rory Freedman, who exemplifies everything that meat-eaters hate about self-righteous vegans, about her new Skinny Bitches cookbook. And Beppi Crosariol looks at weather-based derivatives and their use in the icewine industry.
At the Toronto Sun, Rita DeMontis settled in with some comfort food, including a recipe for meat loaf. She also looks at the history of comfort food in Canada. Elizabeth Baird previews Winterlicious.
Jennifer Bain goes to the food court at the Toronto Star - she visits the Downsview Park Merchant’s Market and finds some great ethnic food vendors have set up shop. Kim Honey reviews a new book by Dumb-O, I mean whatsherface with the salmonella tongs and finds that while the recipes are practical, they take longer than predicted and the ditzy acronyms are grating.
Also in the Star, Gordon Stimmell finds a couple of great bordeauxs, Amy Pataki eats authentic Mexican food in Sedona, and Susan Sampson’s got a shopping basket with wheels.
