NOW's got a fancy new web layout as of this week, and because I'm actually writing this post on Friday morning, I can tell you that it's already been hacked. And fixed. In any case, all the food stories now have their own pretty section, which makes stuff easier to find - less scrolling for my poor carpal tunnel twisted hands. Steven Davey's got his Top 10 list of restaurants he's visited in 2007, and as usual, I disagree with most of his assessments, as my own experiences at many of the places he lists were very, very different (six months later, I'm still traumatized from having my $25 trout entree at one of his Top-10 places cooked to mush by the boil-in-a-bag method).
Davey also indulges in the small plates trend with reviews of Lambros, and Pepe@Torito, a new room underneath the Kensington tapas bar. Meanwhile Graham Duncan has high praise for Billy Munnelly's wine book, and suggestions in both the under and over $15 categories.
Over at Eye, there's an editorial about food banks that makes my head hurt a lot - they're all Stephen Harper's fault, dontchaknow, and we should just give the poor gift cards. And for the folks who can afford to spend a couple of weeks worth of grocery money on one meal, Alan Vernon and Sean Keenan Kelly hit Lucien.
Rick McGinnis has reviews of Foxley and Citizen at Metro, while Chris Atchinson checks out Hoops Sports Bar and Grill. Billy Munnelly looks at Spanish wines for the holidays, and there's a Canadian Press piece on festive holiday side dishes. There's also a piece about desserts for New Year's eve, and a recipe for fruity cheesecake cups. The foodie interview this week is with Kim D'Eon, who like any good down east girl, loves her mustard pickles.

I've been mystified at Eye's insistence on reviewing only high-end restaurants. It seems like they used to cover restaurants I could afford!
