The Wide, Wide World of Web – Monday, November 26th

webapple.jpgThe holidays are coming and over at Menumental, Eric Vellend has some easy tips on putting together a holiday cheese tray. At Spotlight Toronto, Mehreen says goodbye to the old King Palace as it's razed to make way for condos.

At Eye, Bev Spritzer's Food Notebook is all about booze this week, and the local is Eton House on the Danforth (which means I've now got Eton Rifles by the Jam in my head - damn, I'm old).

David Topping of Torontoist is musing over the upcoming opening of a Coyote Ugly franchise in downtown T.O. Note how it's conveniently located near Hooters to pick up the overflow. Meanwhile Julie Reid takes up the pad thai challenge and ends up eating a lot of pretty bad pad thai. Not to mention a lot of ketchup.

At Gremolata, Malcolm Jolley interviews Sasha Douglas of Coupe Space, and Julia Aitken offers holiday entertaining tips. Meanwhile Konrad Ejbich nicknames our local alcohol retailer KGBO.

They're still on about Sam Mitchell, chocolate cake and the lack of a good one in this city over at Posted Toronto, were they're also talking about the city's plan to lease out food carts, and Toronto's signature street food. Given that the closest we've come to a signature food for our city, nevermind the "street" bit, is a peameal bacon sandwich, I don't have high hopes on that count.

And they've been crazy busy at BlogTO this week where Debbie reviews Penrose Fish and Chips and Cafe Pleiade, Jenny reports on the closing of iMaid Cafe, and Roger checks out the renos at The Windsor Arms. Also at BlogTO, Vanessa reviews Le Cafe Michi, Tanja hits Queen West favourite Terroni, and Natalie Taylor reports on a chocolate fashion show.

Finally, at Toronto Life, James Chattos reveals the winners of the Gold Medal Plates competition, and David Lawrason looks at Le Clos Jordanne's 2005s.
