A pair of food-related documentaries will soon be screening in Toronto, one in a limited release and one for a single night only. We've got the scoop on both of them, as well as a pair of tickets to give away to one of them. Which one? You'll have to read on to find out...

How To Cook Your Life is a cheerful documentary from director Doris Dörrie about the art of cooking and the art of cooking your life without burning it, putting too much salt or overcooking it. Food and being determine life, and life determines food.
During the summer of 2006, Dörrie and her crew filmed Zen priest and chef Edward Espe Brown at his cooking classes at the Scheibbs Buddhist centre in Austria, and the two Californian Buddhist centers, the Tassajara Zen Mountain Center and the Zen Center in San Francisco, where he teaches people of all generations.
How To Cook Your Life opens Friday, November 23rd at select theatres. Visit Mongrel Media for more infomation.

A Table In Heaven is Andrew Rossi's lively portrait of the founder of New York's legendary restaurant Le Cirque, Sirio Maccioni, and his three sons - Mauro, Marco and Mario - to whom he will one day leave his formidable cultural and culinary legacy. The access Rossi gains to this loud, loving and larger-than-life family is remarkable, but so is his timing: the film takes us through the closing of the "old" Le Cirque on New Years Eve 2004 and its celebrated re-birth in a new location two years later.
Edited from over 200 hours of footage since 2004 of the Maccioni family and featuring scenes with the who’s who of New York, such as Donald Trump, Martha Stewart, Robert De Niro, Joan Collins, Bill Cosby, Henry Kissinger, Rudy Giuliani and Ron Perelman, A Table In Heaven is definitely a must-see for anyone who cares about food. This hilarious film also has a lot to say about the struggles of a close-knit family and the changing tastes of a new social elite.
A Table In Heaven will have its Canadian premiere screening on Wednesday, December 5th (6:30pm and 9:15pm) at The Bloor Cinema as part of Doc Soup, the monthly film series from the folks behind the Hot Docs documentary film festival. Director Andrew Rossi and producer Kate Novak will be in attendance for a post-screening Q&A. Visit the Doc Soup info page on the Hot Docs website for tickets and more information.
