I'm off on a bus trip to several breweries today for a forthcoming story (yeah, I know, it's a tough job...), so it's another point-form round up this week:
Toronto Star:
- Amy Pataki likes the old-school Italian at Ristorante Tremonti, and has some local restaurant news as well.
- Gordon Stimmell tries to figure out why some wines are so much cheaper in Buffalo than they are here - while I'm trying to figure out why his five wine reviews are missing from the online version of the article.
- Susan Sampson suggests making some tasty treats as gifts for your friends this Christmas.
- Megan Ogilvie reviews an absolutely ridiculous sounding diet book which claims that iced drinks are what make people get fat.
The Globe & Mail:
- Joanne Kates loves the atmsophere but is so-so on the food at Sequel.
- Beppi Crosariol suggests that riesling and chardonnay are becoming Ontario's signature grapes.
- Maggie Wrobel tries the signature Bandido Margarita at El Bandito.
- Lucy Waverman cooks brunch for a crowd.
- Amy Verner decides - "as a lark" - to visit all seven of Jeffrey Chodorow's NYC restaurants, mainly to check out the design and presentation, and she also reports that the landmark Annex cafe Dooney's is currently undergoing the Restuarant Makeover treatment.
- Tim Shufelt reports on the controversial Chinese delicacy, shark fin soup.
- Sasha Chapman puts a little (artisanal) butter on it.
National Post:
- Gina Mallet reviews George.
- Michael Vaughan reveals the first pick for his new Signature Selection private wine ordering service.
- Jason Chow wants to get a tailgate party started with brats from Lein Delicatessen.
