The Wide, Wide World of Web – Monday, October 8th

webapple.jpg It's a quiet round-up today with not much going on as everyone settles in for mountains of turkey with all the trimmings.

Catherine Jheon of Beyond Burgers finds a "grandmother" in the kitchen at Porh Pawh Bakery Cafe where the owner whips up healthy baked goods in homage to her mother and grandmother.

At Toronto Life, James Chatto eases through the melancholy of autumn with a whole lot of dead pig, and David Lawrason offers up ten "killer" wines under $25.

Ivy Knight of Gremolata comes up with some turkey day alternatives (although... good luck getting folks to give up the brussels sprouts for rapini), and the folks from The Healthy Butcher offer up ways to cook your bird. Pamela Cuthbert interviews Paul Finkelstein, whose new TV show makes him out to be Canada's answer to Jamie Oliver - well, until the turkey twizzler fans start to fight back.

And at BlogTO, they review Somethin's Fishy, Victory Cafe, and Salad Spa. Also at BlogTO, Kari reports on initiatives to get Ontarians to buy even more local produce, Tim manages to snap a pile of photos on Alphabet City's Food Terminal Tour (wait... that tour was listed as "photos prohibited"... hmmm), and Tanja finds some Jones soda with Honest Ed on the label.
