newsboy.jpgKensington Market is the hot new foodie ‘hood - pass it on. While K-Market has, in fact, always been about the food, Steven Davey of NOW has found much to write about this week, with his reviews of Miss Cora’s Kitchen (slices, jerk chicken and sweet treats), and Goed Eten (waffles), and a Fresh Dish column all about K-Market foodie news.

In his Fall Food Preview, Davey tells readers what to expect in terms of openings, events, and best picks for the Restaurant Makeover Deathwatch betting pool. And also in NOW, Graham Duncan has wine suggestions for pairing with Thanksgiving dinner in his Drink Up column, but given that it’s supposed to be 30-freakin’-degrees Celsius, might I suggest a hearty Merlot and a steak on the BBQ instead?

At Eye, the charming Corey Mintz accurately pegs neighbourhood annoyance Parkdale Drink as a lounge and not a restaurant. But somehow, I doubt that the 905er tartlettes who stand around out front in short shorts are there for the risotto.

Billy Munnelly of Metro suggests light, lively and local wines to pair with the turkey (or, you know, the BBQ you’re really going to have because it’s too damned hot to cook a turkey), and Aonghus Kealy has a selection of beers to serve the same purpose.

Also in Metro, Lars Aumueller has ideas for cranberries beyond sauce, and Rick McGinnis slurps up a bowl or two at Le Bar a Soupe.
