There’s an endless and overwhelming amount of hype about the new and returning shows on the regular networks, so it’s easy to not notice that new seasons are starting on the smaller niche channels as well.
This includes Food Network Canada, where they’re launching their fall season this coming week with new episodes of old favourites like Restaurant Makeover, plus eight new (or newly imported shows), including The Main with Anthony Sedlak (pictured above), winner of last year’s edition of Superstar Chef Challenge.
Descriptions and premiere dates for the seven new shows follow after the cut.

3 of these shows sound interesting. I will steal some of them on the internet.

I’m still miffed they never renewed Thirsty Traveler for its 4th and 5th season (being filmed). It’s a great and informative show. I guess it’s not “sexy” enough maybe.

Have now recovered from the debilitating eye spasms triggered by Anthony Sedlak’s jackrabbit hand movements. I stopped watching after the 17th time he said couscous like it had no o’s in it. Get this guy the hell off my TV.

Damn…that’s harsh…
So much hate for a cool up and coming chef. I happen to actually love the kid’s enthusiasm and fresh take. At 24, he’s already been in the professional food business for 10 years in some capacity…imagine that
Go Sedlak!..I’d love to smell what this kid is cooking

I’d like to smell what you’re smoking.
I’m just saying we should make more room for intelligent shows like “In Search of Perfection”.

I’ve only watched one of Blumenthal’s shows. I understand that new and fresh ideas are always needed to keep the roster from getting tired, but boiled sausages and mashed potatos? C’mon now.

Oh Anthony Sedlak - WTF is with the “Boom”?
Is that the poor Canadian version of Emeril’s “Bam”?

I love the fact that Food TV is keeping the “how to” shows on (I have been watching for five years and my husband thinks my cooking has improved greatly).
I am hooked on Anthony and love his shows so far. I am just trying to place his slight accent, like the way he says his words with “O’s”.
We need more teaching shows like the Main, Chef at Home, Tyler’s Ultimate, etc. And don’t take the BBQ shows off in the winter!

This guy is “HAUT”…sometimes he wears a wedding ring and sometimes not - is he married??
…if not, send me an invitation next time he’s in the lower mainland!
Cooking wise - he always gets my juices going…I’m so inspired to make his dishes for friends because he makes them look so easy - and they look so delish, I can almost taste them through the tv screen…amazing passion…gotta love him!
