The Wide, Wide World of Web - Monday, September 24th

webapple.jpgThis week, Torontoist has an astounding number of food-related posts. Val Dodge sings the praises of honeycrisp apples, and Robert Powell looks at the new restaurants that have opened recently, while Karen Whaley reports (that the NY Times reports) that Guy Rubino of Rain got all Marco Pierre White at Nelly Furtado recently and threatened to kick her and her entourage out for arriving late and with more people in tow than indicated on the original reservation. Mr. Rubino, I make rock fingers in your general direction. \m/_

Also at Torontoist, Karen Whaley has a nifty piece on mooncakes and the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival, and Kevin Plummer tips off readers to the Urbanspoon website.

At Spotlight Toronto, Suresh chows down at The Friendly Thai, and then filled up on sweets at the Embassy Restaurant. Ohhh... jalebi!

Tanja of BlogTO heads to Congee Queen and has high praise for the congee (which she normally doesn't like), and Debbie enjoys the beautiful food at Hashimoto (with amazing photos).

Sheba, an Ethiopian restaurant on College Street is this week's feature at Catherine Jheon's Beyond Burgers. No word if Jheon waited an hour for her food as we once did. And at Eye, Bev Spritzer covers both this week's local (Castro's Lounge) and the Food Notebook column.

At Gremolata, Malcolm Jolley interviews Patrick McMurray, the man behind Starfish Oyster Bar, who reveals that the whole "don't eat oysters in a month with a R" is a lot of hooey. And Eric Vellend lists his top 10 foodie favourites about Andalusia.

James Chatto shares the gastronomic details of his son's wedding at Toronto Life, while David Lawrason suffers through some Wayne Gretzky wine (why??? why??) and finds some new qualities in a couple of bottle from Brazil.
