Lots of folks are talking about the recent move of veggie paradise Cafe 668, and at NOW this week, Steven Davey checks out the new digs. Davey's also got local restaurant openings and closings in his Fresh Dish column.
Also in NOW, Graham Duncan looks at how Indian restaurant Maroli is set for a fight with the KFC location next door. Apparently the owner has it in for the Colonel, although Duncan doesn't really explain why; something to do with being ousted from a previous location by Sobey's, but I must be missing something because I don't get the connection. Duncan makes more sense in his Drink Up column where he justifies buying Grolsch for the bottle.
And Wayne Roberts has a piece about Tadesse Meskela, of the Oromia Coffee Farmers Cooperative Union, in Ethiopia.
At Eye, Corey Mintz, hardest working man in food media, reviews The Burger Shoppe, and scores points by referencing Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall (or, as we call him in our house, Hugh Poncy-Longlastname). But then, Corey is kind of obsessed with meat.
Over at Metro, Billy Munnelly looks at the numeric labelling at Gerard Bertrands, while Aonghus Kealy remembers Beer Hunter Michael Jackson and previews an event in his honour.
Also in Metro, Marcy Cornblum takes one for the team and tries Kraft Probiotic cheese (because this isn't destined to be this decade's "oat bran", is it??), and David Singh is bewildered by the organic chocolate at Green & Black's. And for no reason at all, there's a recipe for Lamb and Feta Strudel. Baa-aa-aaaa!
