I’m writing this as planes from the air show buzz overhead, and thinking straight is pretty much impossible, especially since I have to keep stopping to comfort my dogs - so apologies to TasteTO readers if this post verges on incomprehensible.
At BlogUT Sarah has a reminder about the Vegetarian Food Fair, while Suresh of Spotlight Toronto enjoys some tasty seafood at the Pure Spirits Oyster House. And despite the warm summer weather, Catherine Jheon of Beyond Burgers enjoys a bowl of soup at Le Bar a Soup. Eye’s Local this week is Smokey Joe’s Cafe at Yonge and Shepperd.
Gremolata’s Malcolm Jolley interviews Tony Loschaivo about catering events for the Toronto International Film Festival, and Konrad Ebjich discusses Ontario’s Reif Estates Winery.
They love the farmer’s markets at Reading Toronto with some awesome photos of recent visits to a bunch of local markets. There’s also a post about Canstruct, a group that builds displays out of canned goods to help promote donations to food banks.
Posted Toronto has a piece about the coffee wars on Roncesvalles, and an interview with Nathan Isberg, chef of Coca and Czehoski about his favourite stuff in Toronto.
At Torontoist, they check out the savoury snacks in Kensington Market, and report on an odd little piece in the Globe and Mail in which various Globe writers debate the etiquette of eating in public.
And finally, BlogTO has reviews of Poon’s Express, Greg’s Ice Cream, and The Lakeview Lunch. And Tanja offers up a review of a recent Harvest Wednesdays dinner, ans also visits the new T&T Supermarket.
