We don’t normally feature a lot of non-Toronto stuff on this site, but I loved Megan the Vegan’s post about eating vegan while on a trip to Newfoundland and how wonderful her hosts were at accommodating her. The same post also details a bunch of really cool vegetarian products from the west coast, most of which are sadly not available here.
In a decidedly not-vegan post, Catherine from Sugar and Ink makes salmon skin maki. I’d try that at home but I have 170 pounds of dog who have collective claim on leftover fish skin.
At Edible Tulip, Daphne savours the flavours of August with homemade tomato sauce, and once-despised but now loved, beets.
Brilynn defends the humble vanilla bean over at Jumbo Empanadas, pointing out that it gets a bad rap as being plain and ordinary , when it’s actually quite exotic.
And I’ve moved house at Save Your Fork with a new hosting site and a new look, and hopefully more posts. Torontonians might be interested in the post about how Loblaws is abolishing plastic shopping bags at their store in Milton.
