The food coverage in this weekend's papers is pretty light, and I'm tired from walking around in the sun all day, so it's a quick point-form round-up this week.
National Post:
- Gina Mallet reviews Cowbell, and polls chefs from across the country to find out about their favourite kitchen toys.
- Michael Vaughan tastes some Greek wines.
- Jason Chow chats with three-time national oyster-shucking champion John Bil.
- Bonnie Stern whips up some ratatouille. (Gee, I wonder why that dish has become so popular recently...)
Toronto Star:
- Gordon Stimmell rates five recently arrived reds.
- David Rider joins Mike Schreiner of Local Food Plus to rate two of Toronto's farmers markets.
- San Grewal has a Q&A with Sean Basinski, director of NYC's Street Vendor Project.
- Buried near the back of the Classified section, Jennifer Brown checks out organic product delivery services for apartment dwellers.
Globe & Mail:
- José Lourenço tries to find a restaurant with a waterfront view that actually serves decent food.
- Deirdre Kelly reports that fine dining institution Scaramouche may soon be forced to move, and she also interviews the wine critic with a punk rock attitude, Deacon Dr. Fresh.
- Alexandra Gill reviews Vancouver's Galley Patio & Grill.
- Lucy Waverman makes a healthy summer menu of radish salad, chicken with figs, and peach turnovers.
- Leah McLaren rants about vegans and the popular diet book Skinny Bitch.
- Beppi Crosariol raves about Niagara's Mountain Road Wine Company.
