I haven't tried any new beers lately that excited (or repulsed) me, so rather than a beer review, this week's column offers up the details on a couple of upcoming - and FREE! - beer events.
This Thursday July 26th, the folks behind Toronto's Festival of Beer are presenting The King Street Crawl, a beer sampling event scattered across 11 different bars and restaurants on King Street West between Spadina and Bathurst, including Venice Resto-Bar, Shoeless Joe's, Crush, Brassaii, Fionn MacCool's, 2Cats, 577 Lounge, Bar Wellington, KiWe Kitchen, The Banknote Bar & Supergrill and The Wheat Sheaf. Each location will be pouring complimentary beer samples between 6pm and 10pm, followed by an after-party at KiWe Kitchen until 2am.
Also starting Thursday and running until Saturday is the LCBO Premium Beer Festival at the Summerhill LCBO (10 Scrivener Square, just south of Summerhill subway station). The fest will feature 46 different beers - including 19 Ontario brews - being poured over the course of the three days. Attendees will be given 8 tickets, each good for a 1 oz sample.
