A Gift From the Stars cookbook is a collection of recipes from chefs in Southern Ontario, plus a few celebrity guests. Chef Daniel Racine has produced the book with the intention of raising $500,000 for the Daily Bread Food Bank.

The book is divided into four sections with recipes from celebrity chefs such as Michael Smith, Christine Cushing, Lynn Crawford and Gordon Ramsay at the beginning, and then appetizers, mains and desserts from restaurants around southern Ontario.

Each recipe spread features a page of info on the contributing restaurant with photos, a sample menu, and information on things such as dress code, corkage fee and the cost of average mains, making it a combination cookbook and glossy restaurant guide.

With over 900,000 people using food banks in the GTA each year, funds generated from the $49.95 cost of the book will go towards feeding those who are struggling to put food on their tables. Says Chef Racine, “Chefs and restaurateurs are in the business of feeding people and I feel very strongly that it is our mutual responsibility to help feed those who can’t or don’t have the means to feed themselves.”

A Gift From the Stars is available at Book City, The Cookbook Store and Spring Rolls restaurant locations. Copies are also available via online order from the A Gift From the Stars website.

We would like to thank the Taste TO team and community for your amazing support. Hunger can be fought and defeated in the Toronto GTA and this initiative shows that Toronto Foodies do care. We are now offering an online special only for $29.95 and $5 goes to the Daily Bread Food Bank.
