Voulez-Vous Manger Avec Moi Ce Soir?

classicpepe.jpgThey may be a bunch of cheese-eating surrender monkeys, but it's hard to argue that the French are responsible for some of the best food and drink on earth. And there are a couple of events coming up in Toronto that will hopefully help to prove it.

The first is Apéritif à la française, a promotional event for France's food and drink industry that will be taking place in 36 cities around the world this Thursday, June 7th. The Toronto edition will be happening at Maro (135 Liberty Street), and will feature a trade and media event at 7:00 PM followed by a public after-party at 9:00 PM with DJs David de Barce (resident DJ at Hôtel Costes in Paris) and jojoflores (Montreal). Tickets are $20 advance at Ticketweb or $25 at the door, and will allow you to sample an assortment of tasty treats from such French food and drink producers as Baron Philippe de Rothschild, Mouton Cadet, Pernod, Poulain and many more.

Later this month, bistros and brasseries all over the city will be taking part in Francolicious, a prix fixe promotion similar to the popular Summerlicious and Winterlicious events. The special menus will be available from Wednesday, June 13th through Monday, June 25th at every French restaurant you can imagine - plus a couple of Moroccan places - with prices in the $15-$25 range for lunch, and $25-$75 for dinner. Check the Francolicious website for a full list of participating restaurants.
