The Wide, Wide World of Web - Monday, May 28th

webapple.jpgThey’ve revamped the restaurant section over at BlogTO, but right now, it’s only showing one post, Tanja’s review of the Big Ragu. There are more recent restaurant posts though, and because I’m dedicated over here, I’m scrolling, scrolling, scrolling back to collect them all. There’s also a review by Tim of The Fish Store, aaaannnddd… nope, that’s it.

Torontoist has some articles about stuff that, by the time I write this, has already happened, so let’s hope folks had fun at Harvey’s Free Burger Day, and the farmer’s market at the Brickworks. There’s another market next Saturday, but if you missed free burger day, you’re SOL. The do have a funny piece about Mayor Miller getting hit with some beef jerky, though.

Edward Keenan reviews The Imperial PUBlic Library for Eye this week. Read the whole piece and see if you can spot the really amusing typo near the end. Spotlight Toronto’s, Suresh finds himself at Globe Bistro during their very first lunch service.

At Beyond Burgers, Catherine Jheon visits Reliable Fish and Chips, and finds it much more appealing after their recent Restaurant Makeover.

“I’m All Outta Love” for Air Supply, the oddly titled patio guide offered up at Toronto Life. (Oh come on, like you wouldn’t have thrown in a bad pun too!) It’s a selective little list with the usual suspects along with some head-scratchers. No Cadillac Lounge? And Last Temptation in K-Market doesn’t exactly strike me as a typical hangout for Toronto Lifers. I’m sceptical all around. And the last time I sat on the very nice patio at Michelle’s Brasserie, there was a woman dressed like a porn star at the next table with a froofy little dog and a scary man with too much jewellery, so Toronto Life recommendation or not, I don’t know if I’d do that again.

I must have missed James Chatto’s blog post from last week (it wasn’t published when I did the round up) so there’s two from him this week. First he visits Saylor in Prince Edward County, and then heads up north to Manatoulin. David Lawrason also headed to Prince Edward County for their Terroir celebration and tries some Prince Edward County wines.

Last mention on blogTO was that it’s a temporary glitch as they get a few hundred reviews all re-categorized. The new map tool is crazy useful, so hopefully they’ll figure it all out soon.
