Walking past Katharine Mulherin Contemporary Art Projects (1086 Queen Street West) on the way home from dinner tonight, we noticed through the window that the wall of the main space was covered with hundreds of photos of food. Or more accurately, photos of meals, snacks and drinks, all taken from directly overhead.

A quick web search when we got home revealed that it's an exhibition by photographer Dean Baldwin called "Attempt at an Inventory" which documents almost everything he ate or drank during 2006. According to the exhibition notes, it was inspired by Oulipian text by French writer Georges Perec entitled Attempt at an Inventory of the Liquid and the Solid Foodstuffs Ingurgitated by Me in the Course of the Year Nineteen Hundred and Seventy-Four.

The installation has been up for a couple of weeks now, and will remain on display until this coming Saturday, May 12th.
