The time change seems to have affected a lot of bloggers this week, screwing up internal clocks and throwing us off our games. But a few soldiered into the kitchen and, sleep-deprivation be damned, cooked up some good stuff.
Wasabi Cowgirl updates her blogroll and includes TasteTO (Woo! Thanks muchly!). She also scores some of the US Doritos flavours not available in Canada. For the record, my partner Greg is jealous.
James Chatto of Toronto Life has a cold and can't taste a damn thing, but is looking forward to returning to Toronto and trying out the ribs at Cluck, Grunt and Low. (So that's why Marc Thuet can never be found at his restaurant and why his new shop in Liberty Village still isn't open!)
The time change hasn't affected the output at Do You Know The Muffin Man? where there are hand-dipped Jasmine Tea Chocolates, Green Tea Poundcake, Homemade Protein Bars and German Apple Pancake.
Ivonne at Cream Puffs in Venice is having a hard time with the month of March and finds solace in Orange Bread and Applesauce Bread.
Robert at Pots and Pans took a "secret ingredient challenge" and cooked up some dishes featuring carrots. He also makes barbeque chicken with rice and lentils and a "boring dinner" that still looks pretty darn tasty.
At Save Your Fork, I go back in time and bake up some Lassy Mogs for the Treat of the Week. I also review Anthony Bourdain's Nasty Bits. No... his book.
Vanessa at Tongue & Cheek reviews the Brooklyn Brewery dinner at Beer Bistro and Thee Asian Kitchen in Markham.
Also this week...
- Blog From Our Kitchen enjoys some mushroom risotto.
- The Domestic Goddess offers up a thought-provoking essay on kitchen shortcuts.
- Another essay is on offer from Hooked on Heat about being a "food artist".
- Rob at Hungry in Hogtown responds to the fried bunny ear uproar with a post pointing out just how much death and destruction goes into many of the seemingly innocuous items we eat every day.
- I Can't Believe I'm Back in Toronto isn't actually in Toronto at all, but in Vegas where they hit Mesa Grill and Bouchon.
- David Lawrason of Toronto Life offers an interesting article on Gallo Wines.
- Megan the Vegan does up a tasty vegan Sunday Dinner.
- The Nutritionista combines kale and beans for a tasty scramble.
- Ruth at Once Upon a Feast found some tasty berries and whipped up a summertime dessert in the middle of a blizzard.
- Phoenikia cooks up a tasty-looking black bean, potato and coconut stew.
- And at Seven Spoons, the mixer is broken, which, I guess, means they'll have to use... a spoon. Oh, I crack myself up!
