webapple.jpgThe food folks have been busy over at BlogTO with lots of reviews this past week. Everyone is talking about Mela, the vegetarian joint that took over the teeny tiny Wanda’s Pie in the Sky location on Yorkville Avenue. There’s also a preview of the Seedy Saturday event coming up this weekend at Scadding Court. Tim visits La Palette and starts a debate about horsemeat - good, bad, too cute to eat?

Jerrold offers an intriguing piece about how the litter level seems to increase exponentially right around the time the coffee chains roll out their “under the rim” promotions.

Unfortunately there seems to be a lot of sore losers out there that will gladly make the effort to roll back the rim on the cup, but not make the effort to put litter in its place. Does this contest make litterers out of losers, or do people just litter a lot all the time?

[...]

- In 2005, a study found that Tim Hortons cups made up over 20% of Nova Scotia’s litter.

Okay, I added the last quote just because I’m from Nova Scotia and it makes me laugh. Don’t try and get between a Bluenoser and their cup of Timmie’s. In reality though, the campaign discriminates against anyone concerned enough about the environment to bring their own refillable cup, and the litter is definitely an issue.

Also on BlogTO, Tanja checks out Kowloon, Frank enjoys the grub at Kingsway Fish and Chips, and Tim digs in to the Dolsot Bibimbap at Buk Chang Dong Soon To Fu.

At Spotlight Toronto, Suresh ventures underground for some soup at the Soup Nutsy in the TD Centre, not to be confused with the “soup nazi” as portrayed on an episode of Seinfeld - his company is The Original Soup Man, and there’s a location in the Eaton Centre.

Suresh also visits Sorn Thai, swanks it up at Jump Cafe, and actually enjoys a trip to The Keg (on York).
