The Wide, Wide World of Web – Monday, February 19th

webapple.jpgAh, let's see what's going on out there on "teh intarwebs" this week...

At Blog UT (yes, even U of T has their own blog), fans of the much-missed Radical Roots restaurant will be happy to know that its replacement Hot Yam! (what a great name), is serving up yummy vegan grub.

Suresh of Spotlight Toronto discovers what we've known all along - Alex Farms cheese shops are delightful, wonderful, happy-making places. He also reviews one of our favourite restaurants, the Peruvian Boulevard Café on Harbord Street. And in honour of Lunar New Year, Mehreen reviews Dynasty dim sum on Bloor.

I visit the Good Catch General Store on behalf of TorontoBits, and while it's not just food, they definitely have some really cool stuff to eat.

They've been crazy busy with the food reviews over at BlogTO - Tanja reviews Cafe 668, one of the city's favourite vegetarian restaurants, and then has brunch (I was about to use the verb "brunches" but that makes my inner editor cry) at b Espresso, where the grub is as good as she remembers it. Frank heads up to Rogers Road (yes, north of St. Clair!!!) for tacos at Rebozo's Mexican Foods. Squabbling commenters can't decide if Rebozos is better than Tacos Al Asador, but I'm holding out for a place that makes fish tacos like you get in Southern California - oh, Taco Mesa, I miss you so. Tanja heads to Yorkville to dine at Flo's Diner, a throwback to the wholesome fare of the 50s, and then east to the Beach for some more throwback style food at The Goof (aka. The Garden Gate Restaurant). And finally Michelle compares the K-Market newcomer Cob's Bakery with longtime market fixture neighbours and finds the newbie to come up lacking.

And finally, there were no food or restaurant reviews published at Torontoist in the past week, which means those folks must be awfully hungry. Someone should order them a pizza.
