At All Things Dolce, the hot topics this week are bagels from Gryfe's Bakery, Italian Tartufo, and real candied fruit, not the nasty store-bought stuff you see at Christmas.
Greg at Beer, Beats and Bites points his readers in the direction of another beer blogger he admires.
James Chatto of Toronto Life writes about the first Gold Medal Plates Canadian Culinary Champion, a sort of Canadian culinary Olympics for some of Canada's top chefs.
At Confessions of a Cardamom Addict, Jasmine tries out the Jamie Oliver Flavour Shaker, and finds that 1. it doesn't work all that well on anything other than whipping cream, and 2. the smell of curry is a pain in the butt to get off of plastic. She also offers up a post on Globe onions.
There's always something sweet and beautiful over at Cream Puffs in Venice, and this week Ivonne makes art out of cream and caramel and Nutella. First, the coeur à la crème:
French in origin, coeur à la crème means "heart of cream." A classic dessert, it's components are simple and sublime. I'm not sure what it would have been made with when it was first created, perhaps fresh cheese, but most recipes today call for a mixture of cream cheese and either heavy cream our sour cream. Most recipes also feature the ever-important vanilla bean.
Then, in case the sugar rush wasn't enough, she tantalizes her readers with Cheese-Filled Tuiles with Nutella Drizzle for World Nutella Day (how the heck did I miss that??) And finally, she switches to a new cookbook for February to try new recipes for Flavour of the Month. What a cool idea!
The Domestic Goddess reviews the Chocolate Heaven Cafe on the Danforth, and her guest-blogging sister writes about the Niagara Ice Wine Festival. (We're just glad it actually got cold enough to make ice wine at all!)
Low-carb breakfasts are an area of interest for Tracey at Fear and Loathing in the Kitchen as she tries to come up with interesting recipes that fit into her specialized diet. A grilled eye of round with onions, red peppers and garlic-infused ghee seems to suit her just fine.
Hungry in Hogtown gets all science-guy for World Nutella Day and makes Nutella powder.
In David Lawrason's Wine Blog, he picks Conch y Toro as his wine of the week.
Dates Squares and Wraps are the healthy fare of the week over at The Nutritionista.
Ruth at Once Upon a Feast offers up a recipe for Spicy Baked Pepper and Chorizo Sausage, as well as a post about her favourite kitchen toys and appliances.
No recipes from me at Save Your Fork this week, but I do offer up my usual curmudgeonly opinion on healthy eating magazine. I also review Canadians At Table by Dorothy Duncan, and cheer on Anthony Bourdain as he posts about the current crop of Food Network "experts". (Hey, any chance I get to diss Rachael Ray, I've gotta take it!)
And finally, Alana at Wasabi Cowgirl joins me in cheering on Bourdain (and poking fun at Rachael Ray). She also reviews Young Thailand Restaurant.

Thanks so much for the link and for introducing yourself! You have a great site!
